Chocolate Caramel Nut Bars

Ingredients
- 1 x 14 oz. bag of caramels
- 1 x 5 oz. can evaporated milk, divided
- 1 package German chocolate cake mix with pudding in the mix.
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped & divided
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Place caramels & 1/3 cup of milk in heavy saucepan.
- Cook on low heat until caramels are melted, stirring frequently. Set aside.
- Mix remaining milk, cake mix & butter.
- Press 1/2 of the cake mix into bottom of 13×9 baking pan.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of walnuts & 1/2 cup of chocolate over batter.
- Add caramel mixture. Spread to the edges of the pan.
- Add teaspoons of remaining cake mixture. Press batter gently into caramel.
- Top w/ remaining walnuts & chocolate.
- Bake for 18 minutes until lightly browned.
- Cool completely then cut into bars.
