Brunch Casserole
From the Pirates’ House Cookbook
Ingredients
- 12 slices of white bread, crusts removed
- butter, softened
- 1 lb pork sausage
- 1/2 lb grated Swiss cheese
- 4 eggs
- 3 cups milk
- 1 tsp. salt
- Tabasco pepper sauce
Directions
- Crumble sausage & cook until lightly browned. Drain & set aside.
- Butter bread lightly on one side.
- Place 6 slices of bread in a 3 quart baking dish buttered side up.
- Sprinkle half of the sausage & half of the cheese on top.
- Repeat w/ the remaining bread, sausage & cheese.
- Beat together eggs, milk, salt & Tobacco until well blended.
- Pour mixture over sausage & cheese.
- Press down on bread until milk comes through.
- Cover & refrigerate over night.
- Bake at 350° for 1 hour until puffy & brown.
Notes
- Top w/ Tabasco to taste.
- Serve w/ fruit salad.
